BEWAREThere is a bootleg copy of this record that some absolute c*nt has produced. Normally I wouldn't call a bootlegger a c*unt, instead perhaps merely a rogue or a swine, but this particular psychopath has produced them using rips of the YouTube videos. Yes, you read that correctly.I have compared good quality recordings of both the original vinyl, the bootleg and the YouTube videos and I have two conclusions:1) The original is a full frequency recording, just like any other properly produced record.2) The bootleg has the same spectrogram fingerprint to the audio from the YouTube videos. What that means is, it's the same damn recording: someone has literally ripped the YouTube videos and used them to produce the bootleg.Keep in mind that the best quality I was able to extract from the YouTube videos was less than 128 kbps (for a point of reference, an oldskool DAT is typically 1411 or 1536 kbps). Also keep in mind that the YouTube videos weren't made with recordings taken from the DAT, they are recordings of the vinyl. To make this absolutely clear: the bootleg is made using extremely low bit rate recordings of a vinyl. This is appalling quality to use to make a record and the bootleg sounds about as bad as you would expect it to. The bootlegger, whoever it was, should be ashamed of themselves.Unfortunately I don't own either the authentic vinyl or the bootleg to do a first-hand comparison of the physical differences between the two records (I received recordings of both records from reliable sources), so I can't give exact details on how to identify the bootleg from its appearance alone, but I have been told that on the bootleg copy (at least with the copy my source owns) the writing on the label and the runout etchings are both crude and untidy. My best advice is that if you are going to buy this record then DEMAND to get a lossless recording sample from the seller (about 1 minute of audio should be enough - don't take the piss and demand full tracks) that you should inspect with a spectrogram before paying anything. If there is a sharp drop in the frequency strength above 12-13 kHz, such that anything higher than this is nothing more than background hiss and faint sibilance distortion, then it is probably the bootleg - the authentic vinyl should have strong, clear frequencies upwards of 20 kHz.A caveat, though, is that certain parts of certain tunes (e.g. the the starts of both tracks on the B side) were originally produced without many strong frequencies above 12-13 kHz, so you may get a false positive if you aren't aware of this. Therefore, I suggest asking for the start of track A1, Request From London, which does have have strong, clear frequencies above 12-13 kHz. (If you want to be certain, and you are skilled at interpreting spectrograms, you can actually see the artifacts created by YouTube's lossy audio encoder on the bootleg which do not appear on the original.) If you don't know how to perform this verification then I strongly recommend you find someone who does before you hand over any cash.

Average jungle at best. If you're looking for actual hard-hitting amen tracks, check out some of Bizzy B's rarer stuff, and the stuff on Slam! records. Much better than this.

It's an ok record that suffers from the discogs scarcity effect that, driven by a fetishistic lust of collectors, overvalues decidedly average records. I have a decent rip of this but if there were a thousand copies of this tune on the street, I'd pay about £8 for a nice copy. The fact someone is offering one for £2600 (at the time of writing) is between hilarious and disgusting. If you absolutely definitely must own this don't mug yourself; pay no more than £50.

Mr_Geese... Just to confirm the note on the sleeve is not a reference to anyone involved in the production so you're correct on that... the test press I have is the legit one and the one photographed here... 'Bryan G' was written on the sleeve as it was a copy originally ear marked for him personally from the Artist/Producer... whether it got in to his hands is not known as 'addressed' promos like this one were handed in or sent to pirate Radio Stations but intercepted by staff or other DJs before they got to the DJs they was addressed to... I am guessing that whoever was behind this gave away 10 copies to well known headlining jungle DJs of the day as a direct promotion... it's possible the person concerned had a few more than 10 pressed [maybe 20-50] ... the ones that were initially given away were 10 Limited pressings... the other nine [min being one of the original 10] were probably personally addressed to the DJs they were given/sent to... Hope this helps and clears up some of the comments below... any more info from the producer or originator would be appreciated... I have not seen the so called 'bootleg' does it have the identical etching and label grooving? The original [the one photographed] has a pale blue tinge to the colour of the white label characteristic of the indie Jungle pressings of the time coming out of Jetstar.

I'm not sure what's up with the really shitty Average Rating for this joint, but just skimming through these tracks I can tell it's damn good. I guess people are pissed off that only 10 copies of this thing exist not including possible bootlegs, but this is honestly some really off kilter, hard hitting jungle from the glory days of the scene. I can understand why this is a grail for some.

10 probably exist because its a load of shite :-) 10 pressed out, handed to a few djs, played once or twice, djs realised the tunes aint great, then got rid of. There is this self perpetuating effect caused by discogs/youtube that seems to be happening often. A rare tune becomes known to the masses(because of the aforementioned websites), the tunes prices shoot through the roof, pushed by cunning money grabbing, advantage taking discogs sellers and then the people want it because its worth a lot and rare.If they thought logically they would realise that its rare coz its a load of crap.

Yes mate i already know about this other version as i own it. Also NONE of the copies i've seen sold are the test presses, so who is bootlegging this release over a 5 year period and selling them as different sellers then? you know how ridiculous that sounds right? As for the quality, tune is almost 20 years old, we can go through thousands of releases and talk about how shit they sound by todays standards, different producers had access to different equipment and so on, again does not make it a bootlegYou can go through EVERY release that not got a label (hell even labeled copies can be moody if the bootlegger has the tools to do so) and speculate it's fakeThis release has nothing to do with bryan G what so ever, it was probably his copy i have a his old copy of subliminal on underdog and the hand writting is incidental

LOL wheres all the bootleg stuff come from?Where have you seen 1 seller or multiple copies being sold, i've probably seen about 10 at the very most! all from different sellers all over a staggered period of time about 5 years now, either somebody has alot of paitents and is a genius OR its as champa says you have your 10 test presses and then another run after that, which is very common, what needs to happen is the other white label needs to be added so others can try sell and buy, and not at the ridiculous 2 grand price tagBesides i have think of at least 1000 other tunes id rather seen bootlegged and others would be in agreement, i think there bootleg talk is alarmist and maybe you need to get all the facts right first

On release written 1 of 10 test press but after artist can press white label copys, i think this ep have more copys. About bootleg, somebody can press this when track is appeared on youtube, but he can't know what written in real run-out (offcourse if he don't have original) who knows ! I think you must see what written in run-out.

Either that or it managed to do a small white label release of 50 or something. It's Verry unlikely that all 10 owners (now 11 records??) use discogs and that all if them have survived. More than 10 exist, original presses or bootlegs is still unknown

While there might be 10 tests press the numbers show there are actually more of these about than a certain seller would have you believe

Beware bootleggers guys, the ones who can make money from the popularity of vinyl. is not worth paying more than 50 pounds, imho ! anyway there are much more interesting jungle vinyls ... Possible it's Bryan Gee press or production ?
