Failure is the debut album of The Posies. It was first released independently in 1988 on cassette only. In 1989 it was reissued on cassette, LP and CD on PopLlama Records. The CD version had no time restrictions and includes the same content as the cassette. The Posies are an American power pop group. The band was formed in 1987 in Bellingham, Washington, United States, by primary songwriters Jon Auer and Ken Stringfellow. They are best known for their radio hits Golden Blunders from Dear 23, as well as Dream All Day, Solar Sister and Flavor of the Month from Frosting on the Beater. Their powerful melodic music has its origins in Merseybeat and the Hollies. They are influenced by Hüsker Dü, XTC, Elvis Costello and Squeeze. The Posies is an American indie rock band, originally from Bellingham, WA. United States, although all band members had moved to Seattle when the band gained prominence. The band's two core members, singers, songwriters and guitarists are Jon Auer and Ken Stringfellow. The Posies began as a set of informal home recordings by Stringfellow and Auer, but soon became a full-fledged band. Those early demos were released as the album Failure 1988.
