Vapor City is an album inspired by a dream city explains Stewart. It's become such a recurring dream of mine throughout the past few years that I began creating music to it, a collection of different songs each representing different districts in the city. Stewart revealed more detail about the genesis of Vapor City in a recent interview with Creators Project: In the dream I felt like I knew all the places, I kept seeing the same streets, the same shops and clubs. Though not as much of a bombardment as his previous album, Rooms, Vapor City is a pretty enjoyable and diverse album from electronic music producer City is the first album released by Travis Stewart, Machinedrum on Ninja Tune and his nineteenth release under the Machinedrum name overall. It was released on September 29, 2013. The concept for Vapor City came about through a series of vivid, recurring dreams Stewart had about a fictional city. Each track on the album is meant to explore and define a different district or neighborhood within this world. 10 tracks 52:52. Travis Stewart, the man behind the Machinedrum moniker, was born in North Carolina not somewhere that immediately springs to mind as being a stronghold of electronic music. Hundreds of miles from the eras contemporary strongholds of New York or London, Stewart was forced to find his feet alone. Now, 12 years on from the first Machinedrum release, and having established himself as one of the genres most original, exciting, and urgently relevant artists to date, it seems fair to say that he found his own way pretty well in the end. Album 2013 10 Songs. Vapor City Machinedrum. Vapor City. Ranging from experimental to purely hypnotic, Machinedrum is one downtempo artist to keep on your radar. Travis Stewart is the single driving force behind Machinedrum and has been releasing album after album on such labels as LuckyMe, Hotflush, Merck, and others. Today EARMILK brings you Stewarts latest release, Vapor City off of Ninja Tune Records. This most recent work was inspired by a recurring dream Stewart has been having over the last few years of a strange city. Each track on the album is a representation of a district with. Vapor City is front-loaded with those kinds of moments. Part of the thrill of listening to Infinite Us is hearing those yearning piano notes that open it and wondering how they'll be put through the wringer the slow build to a huge, gleaming ascension on the back of a harplike guitar arpeggio only heightens the pull between the delicate melodies and the full-steam-ahead percussion. And opening Center Your Love with a gradual un-muffling of its airy dream-pop vocal-driven riff is a slow focus into euphoria its deep, spare set of pianoguitar chords are a vivid setup for the best Boards of Canada loop Boards of Canada never made. Genre: IDM. Travis Stewart, the tireless workaholic mind behind Machinedrum is back with one of his most cohesive works to date, pulling influences from Burial and the whole vaporwave scene, the producer brings out a solid collection of psychedelic, almost chillwave tracks that are abstract but contagious at the same time, as he manages to keep things interesting from start to finish with some simple, but pretty sounding cuts. If you wish to sit back in your room and relax, Vapor City is for you. Super Conzo
